CML Legislative Advocacy Manager Heather Stauffer is departing CML after accepting a position with the City of Boulder as intergovernmental affairs officer.
Stauffer joined CML in July 2019 as a legislative and policy advocate. Previously, Kevin Bommer had been promoted by the CML Executive Board to the executive director position, which ended his 19 years of lobbying in the statehouse.
“I knew exactly who I wanted to fill the vacancy being created for a full-time lobbyist,” Bommer said, “and I was lucky to get Heather to come to the League from Denver Water.”
Stauffer was promoted to legislative advocacy manager in 2022, when the position became available.
“She was a rock star from day one,” Bommer said.
“This was not an easy choice. I truly love working at CML,” Stauffer said in her announcement to the CML staff. “I support the mission, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside you all as talented, caring professionals. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to you all. I have learned so much in the past six years here, and I am so proud of the work that we have done together to support municipalities across the state.”
Stauffer’s last day at CML will be Aug. 15.
