MUNIversity

MUNIversity

CML believes that municipal elected officials investing time and resources to participate in educational events to increase their knowledge of municipal government and enhance their capacity to lead should be recognized. For this reason, in 1991 the CML Executive Board created an elected officials leadership training program, now known as CML’s MUNIversity.

New to Office

Welcome

CML has numerous resources available for municipal elected officials, including our biweekly CML Newsletter and bimonthly Colorado Municipalities magazine.

A brief overview of your new role is available in our Municipal Governance 101 packet.

You also may want to take a look at the publication Colorado Municipal Government: An Introduction. (Upon release, at least one copy of all CML publications is sent to each member municipality; check with your clerk for what may already be available to you.)

CML also has recorded our Effective Governance: Resources for Elected Officials, a workshop that includes information on your role as a municipal official, governing board and staff relationships, how to work effectively with the media, public official liability, and open meetings.

This is why CML, in partnership with other local government organizations, produced How to Hire a Local Government Administrator.
