New faces at CML

There are two new faces at CML as of Aug. 24.  Evelyn Baker started at the League’s new deputy director, and Eliane Walters began as the new database administrator following Mark Vanderbrook’s retirement in July.

Baker joins CML after an exhaustive and highly competitive search for a new deputy director. The position was last held by Kevin Bommer before he was hired by the CML Executive Board as executive director in 2019. This new position, however, was recreated to be a true chief operating officer responsible for guiding internal operations, organizational strategy, and staff leadership. Baker brings over 15 years of Colorado local government leadership experience, including more than a decade as deputy executive director of Denver’s Community Planning and Development department and earlier leadership with the City of Lakewood. Among her impressive educational experience, Baker received an executive certificate from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

“I am thrilled Evelyn is on board with CML,” said Kevin Bommer, CML executive director. “Her resume and reputation for skillfully guiding organizational operations and development are highly regarded, and she is a great fit for this staff and me.”

Walters brings more than five years of experience supporting nonprofit organizations through database administration, CRM management, reporting, operational systems, and technical support. Eliane is recognized for her attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and collaborative approach to improving operational efficiency and data quality.

"Her nonprofit database experience, technical skills, and attention to detail will be a great addition to our team. We are looking forward to working with her as she gets to know CML and our members.”
