Former mayor of Manitou Springs passes away

Marcy Morrison, former Mayor of Manitou Springs, passed away Sept. 5 at the age of 90. She also served in the Colorado House of Representatives, as an El Paso county commissioner, on the local school board, and as state insurance commissioner.

“Marcy was the quintessential public servant," stated retired CML Director Sam Mamet. "She cared so deeply about her community and the state. She loved attending any CML event and interacting with other mayors. It was a privilege to call Marcy a mentor, and more importantly, a valued mentor.” 

“She was one of those people that when she talked, you listened,” said CML Executive Director Kevin Bommer. “Her wisdom, thoughtfulness, tenacity, and love of her community were second to none.”
