Colorado Institute for Municipal Clerks celebrates 50 years

The Colorado Institute for Municipal Clerks invited me to speak as it celebrated its 50th anniversary July 16. The Colorado Municipal League has always had a strong relationship with the Colorado Municipal Clerks Association (CMCA), and we are excited to continue this partnership by supporting and promoting this important training program. 

The institute was developed by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), CML, CMCA, and Regis University Conference Services. The institute's mission and vision is to be "the primary educational opportunity for municipal clerks by providing a balanced, broad-based curriculum to develop confidence and competence in technical, interpersonal, political, and personal leadership skills.” This year's institute was held July 13-17 in Fort Collins.

I want to thank the institute for inviting me to speak along with representatives from CIRSA and IIMC. It was a great honor to represent CML at this outstanding event and help celebrate the institute's achievements. The training provided through this program supports municipal clerks in the very important but often overlooked work they do and helps them adapt to the ever-changing world. 

Municipal clerks keep our towns and cities running and are the heartbeats of these organizations. Without our clerks, very important work would not be accomplished and CML would lose a valuable resource.

Congratulations to all the clerks who graduated from the program this year. It was an honor to be a part of your celebration. Good luck to all the first- and second-year participants as you continue through the program. Congratulations on 50 years to the Colorado Institute for Municipal Clerks and to another 50 years!
