By Kevin Bommer, CML executive director

On June 1, CML announced a job opening for a new deputy director.  CML will be accepting applications through 5 p.m. Friday, July 3.

CML has not had a deputy director since current Executive Director Kevin Bommer held the position from 2012-2019. Bommer envisions this position to be different than the role he played at the time, as he was still primarily responsible for leading CML’s legislative advocacy efforts.

“CML’s next deputy director will lead CML’s internal operations,” Bommer said. “He or she will provide organizational leadership, supervision, operational oversight, and strategic coordination across departments to ensure the organization operates efficiently and effectively in support of CML’s mission, vision, and values.”

As a member of the senior leadership team, the deputy director will oversee key operational functions, support organizational planning and accountability, supervise department managers, and help foster a collaborative and high-performing organizational culture.

“I am immensely proud of the quality and level of service this small team already provides to 270 cities and towns,” Bommer said. “They expect and deserve the very best, and bringing back the deputy director position will ensure we can do even more.”

The current job posting can be found on the CML job board and will close July 3. The new deputy director is expected to start on or after Aug. 1.
