CML Board accepting applications for two vacancies

Letters of application are being accepted through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, to fill two positions on the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board. There is one vacancy in the Small Municipality population category (up to 8,000) and one in the Medium Municipality population category (8,000-50,000).

Elected or appointed municipal officials from member municipalities in either population category who wish to be considered for appointment by the CML Executive Board should follow the instructions below. Under CML bylaws, population figures are based upon population estimates from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) used in computing 2027 municipal dues.

Executive Board members must be elected or appointed officials of member cities and towns. Any official who desires to be considered for the position must:

• Submit an application for nomination no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
• Include an endorsement in writing from the applicant’s city council or board of trustees by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. A city council or board of trustees may endorse the nomination of only one official from the city or town for appointment.
• Hold Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m-2 p.m. to attend the CML Executive Board meeting. The board meeting will be hybrid, but new appointees should attend in person, if possible.
  

A sample application and sample endorsement letter are on the CML Executive Board application webpage. The endorsement need not be a formal resolution. A letter signed by the mayor (or official authorized to sign on behalf of the mayor) affirming the support of the council or board will suffice.

Municipal officials meeting the above qualifications are also asked to submit a video of up to two minutes stating why they wish to be appointed to the CML Board. Applications, endorsements, and videos will be reviewed by the CML Executive Officers, who will make a recommendation to the full Board for approval prior to the Oct. 23 Board meeting. Successful applicants will be notified in time to attend the meeting.
