  • 2019-05-16 Webinar: Energy Performance Contracting for Water Efficiency and Water Meter Upgrades
    May 16, 2019
While the Colorado Energy Office's (CEO's) Energy Performance Contract program is best known for energy savings benefits, there are also substantial water efficiency opportunities. Public building owners can save water and money through water fixture replacements, cooling tower retrofits, and landscape improvements. Water providers can reduce water losses and increase revenue through water meter replacement/upgrade projects. By partnering with prequalified companies that can identify and guarantee water efficiency opportunities, the CEO helps to facilitate the development, financing, and implementation of efficiency upgrades that routinely go unfunded. This webinar covers the unique opportunity for increasing water efficiency, reducing water loss, and ultimately providing substantial savings for both public sector buildings and water providers.

Attendees will learn about critical factors that place employers at risk of receiving a proposed penalty notice from the IRS. This workshop will walk participants through the Employer Shared Responsibility Payment (ESRP) response process, from responding to IRS Letter 226-J through requesting a pre-assessment conference with the IRS Office of Appeals. Attendees will go home with a checklist of areas they should review to avoid common pitfalls in ACA reporting compliance. Each lesson will be illustrated with case studies.
  • 2019-04-17 Webinar: Local Government Authority Over Wireless Facilities in Public Rights of Way
    May 8, 2019
In 2017, the Colorado General Assembly passed legislation limiting in certain respects local government control over small cell wireless facilities in the public rights-of-way.  Fourteen months later, the Federal Communications Commission adopted its own new rules which, although claiming not to significantly preempt state small cell laws, then went on to adopt multiple provisions directly in conflict with Colorado’s legislation.  The FCC rules are being challenged in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  This session will suggest various ways local governments can best comply with the Federal and State regulatory landscape, assert the regulatory control still available to preserve the aesthetics of our communities, address the status of the legal challenge to the FCC rules, and will also describe what one Colorado city is doing to manage small cell deployment as it navigates these legal hurdles.

    July 10, 2018

Research shows that one in four Coloradans have sustained an injury to their brain. Vulnerable populations such as individuals experiencing homelessness and intimate partner violence and those in our corrections system have an even higher prevalence. Brain injury often creates challenges with memory, fatigue, attention, and decision-making, which can lead to difficulties with maintaining employment and meaningful relationships. Its impact on individuals can impair their ability to succeed in communities -- in K-12 classrooms, social service programs, and criminal justice settings. This webinar will speak to how Colorado is addressing the needs of those in our communities with brain injury. By understanding the prevalence of brain injury and the resources available communities can realize how strong connections between brain injury support systems and the people who need them can result in better outcomes.
