CML Executive Director Kevin Bommer appointed Beverly Stables to the position of legislative advocacy manager effective Monday, Dec. 1.  Stables, previously one of CML’s legislative and policy advocates, has been serving as the interim manager since August.

“Bev is a natural leader, and she will do a fantastic job with this new challenge,” Bommer said. “She is well-respected by both lawmakers and lobbyists in the capitol, and she is dialed in to the needs of our 271 member cities and towns.”

Stables grew up outside Boston, Massachusetts, and majored in political science at the University of Delaware. She worked for the Massachusetts legislature for six years prior to coming to Colorado, serving as legislative director for the minority leader of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Stables joined CML in Oct. 2023 and quickly established herself as an effective advocate for CML members on key issues such as housing, transportation, transit, air quality, and land use.

Following the last meetings in 2025 of the CML Policy Committee and CML Executive Board, Stables and the rest of the advocacy team are putting the finishing touches on CML’s legislative agenda for the 2026 session that begins on Jan. 14, 2026.
