NLC City Summit

Nearly 60 Colorado municipal elected officials and staff, not including youth council members, descended on Salt Lake City on Nov. 19-22 for the National League of Cities (NLC) City Summit

The conference was filled with opportunities for local leaders to gather knowledge and network with their peers from around the country. In addition to numerous smaller sessions and general sessions, the conference featured mobile tours to the new Salt Lake City airport, Great Salt Lake, Utah’s Olympic legacy, and more.

Before the closing celebration, NLC held its annual business meeting, during which Councilmember Kevin Kramer, Louisville, Kentucky, was elected the new president of NLC. Mayor Van R. Johnson II, Savannah, Georgia, was elected to serve as NLC’s first vice president, and vice mayor Doreen Garlid, Tempe, Arizona, was elected second vice president.

CML congratulates CML Vice President Laura Weinberg, City of Golden mayor, for her reelection to the NLC Board of Directors for another two-year term. Tracy Engerman, City of Castle Pines mayor, remains on the board, having just completed the first of her two-year term. CML also congratulates Jan Kulmann, City of Thornton mayor, for being selected as chair of the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee. As a committee chair, Kulmann will also represent Colorado on the NLC board. The full NLC press release, including all leadership positions, can be found on the NLC website.
