Education & Training

CML provides municipal officials the skills and education necessary for good governance in Colorado's cities and towns through a variety of learning opportunities (traditional in-person workshops, short lunchtime seminars, and convenient online webinars) on numerous topics throughout the year.

CML believes that municipal elected officials who invest the time and resources to participate in educational events to increase their knowledge of municipal government should be recognized. For this reason, in 1991 the CML Executive Board created an elected officials leadership training program, now known as CML’s MUNIversity.

Westside Metro Mobile Tour

Many Colorado communities are curious about districts and authorities that can focus on redevelopment, reuse, and place management in the downtown or commercial areas of your community. Business Improvement Districts, Downtown Development Authorities (DDAs), and Urban Renewal Authorities (URAs) represent some of the tools available to help municipalities implement the vision through public-private partnerships. What are the differences between these tools, how are they formed, governed, and how to they work? Could this be a tool to help with downtown development in your town?

Why sit in a conference room to learn, when you can hit the road and tour some projects?! Colorado Municipal League (CML) & Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) are pleased to announce our second annual financing mechanism mobile tour. We will visit projects and partner groups in Arvada, Golden, Lakewood, + Wheat Ridge to encourage an interactive experience to showcase what these tools can do, how they work with others, and what their plan is for the future.

Join CML & DCI has we invite our member cities and towns to see some DDA projects and talk to the officials and business owners involved.
