SB26-1334:YOUR SUPPORT IS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED
WHAT DOES THE BILL DO?
SB26-142 clarifies and provides authorization for municipalities to develop and expand thermal energy projects. The bill ensures that municipalities can aggregate energy demand, enter into agreements to develop, operate, and finance these projects and provide this energy outside of their jurisdiction. This will allow municipalities to develop or expand their thermal energy projects and work with other local governments and entities.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE YES
Thermal energy projects help Colorado reach green energy goals while expanding heating, cooling and electricity options for municipalities. Currently, there are additional costs and barriers to developing thermal energy projects on municipalities that this bill would address.
Thermal energy is a renewable sustainable energy source that can provide heating, cooling and electricity for residential and commercial buildings. Colorado is an ideal location for the development of this type of energy and this bill makes it easier for developing and financing these projects allowing more municipalities to provide this service.
YOUR SUPPORT IS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED
Support SB26-142 to remove unnecessary restrictions on municipalities that want to develop or expand thermal energy projects.
