CML supports cooperation among local, state and federal officials to provide a strong partnership with Colorado's cities and towns. The main focus of these advocacy efforts occur with the Colorado General Assembly. CML employs a dedicated advocacy team, which is a reliable source of information about legislative issues and their impact on Colorado's cities and towns and their residents. At the end of each session, the advocacy team provides; summaries of laws enacted
Members can help advocate CML positions directly to their legislators. If you are not sure who your legislator is, you can visit this website to enter your address and find your legislators, as well as see their respective district boundaries. Members can also login to the CML site to find those senators and representatives that represent their municipality. The Colorado General Assembly also has a list of Senate and House committee membership, in case members seek to advocate a position on legislation before a committee.
In addition to representing municipal interests on state legislation, CML is active at the federal level through the National League of Cities.
