CML represents municipal interests on state and federal legislation and decisions and through participation in appellate court cases. Staffers work to
- Represent municipal interests on state legislation by initiating, supporting, opposing or amending state legislation on issues affecting municipal governments.
- Monitor, report on and influence state administrative agency activity and proposals that affect municipalities.
- Monitor and report on select federal legislation and administrative proposals of significant interest. CML advocates the interest of municipalities through the Colorado congressional delegation and the National League of Cities.
- Protect the interests of municipalities and their citizens through participation in certain appellate court cases. The League conducts research and files briefs in cases of significant statewide municipal interest.
- Help municipalities and counties eligible for certain federal or state road and bridge funds by participating in the CML-CCI Special Highway Committee. This committee advises the state Department of Transportation on the allocation of such funds.
