Flu season

The U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, and Homeland Security updated federal guidelines for fall flu season planning. These guidelines may be helpful to cities and towns as they prepare for rapid response to outbreaks at varying levels of the H1N1 virus, particularly in local schools.

New "red flag" requirements for municipal utilities

New federal rules that take effect on November 1, 2008, mandate the creation of identity theft prevention programs for all affected financial institutions and creditors. These new regulations, called the “Red Flag Rules”, are part of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act of 2003.
