Advocacy

CML supports cooperation among local, state and federal officials to provide a strong partnership with Colorado's cities and towns. CML employs a dedicated advocacy team, a reliable source of information about legislative issues and their impact on Colorado's cities and towns and their residents.


Policy Statement

Each year, at our annual business meeting, CML members adopt our policy statement that guides our CML Executive Board, committees and advocacy team during the legislative session.


Colorado General Assembly

Each election year, CML prepares a briefing for candidates to the Colorado General Assembly. Read the 2010 Statehouse Candidate Briefing (pdf).

U.S. Congress

In addition to representing municipal interests on state legislation, CML is active at the federal level through the National League of Cities.

Amicus curiae

Another form of advocacy is before appellate courts. CML conducts research and files amicus curiae briefs in cases of significant statewaide municipal interest.
