Transportation Use of Electronic Information to Facilitate Traffic Management HB 18-1188 Neutral H. Transportation & Energy Rep. Dominic Jackson, D-Aurora, Sen. Owen Hill, R-Colorado Springs Morgan Cullen mcullen@cml.org The advent of autonomous vehicles has created new technological opportunities to improve transportation safety and efficiency. Soon automobiles will be able to communicate directly with one another to improve traffic management systems. However, current law limits the use of location information by government entities. HB 18-1191 authorizes CDOT to implement highway infrastructure technology to communicate with motor vehicles in a manner that does not violate the privacy safeguards contemplated by current statute.
