The League recognizes several compelling reasons for developing a comprehensive energy policy. Energy conservation saves dollars, reduces our dependence on foreign and, along with renewable energy production, creates jobs and supports local economic development efforts. Municipalities are also directly and indirectly affected by the impacts of energy extraction activity.
Energy issues are directly addressed in several of CML's guiding documents: our policy statement and statehouse briefing. The CML Energy Issues Committee discusses issues of concern and identifies potential solutions relating to energy development, extraction, taxation, conservation, sustainability and other associated impacts.
